In the high summer season of whizzing, cracking, snapping, booming, exploding revelries, it was a pleasure to come across this gentle display of July flora pyrotechny along the path.
“Lawful spectacles rising to the sky on the 4th of July, are sensationally designed for heads-up oohs and ahs, but louder-the-better, rattatatta, shooting, snapping, sizzling, crackling, pounding independence explodes late at night, patriotic rebels rattle windows, dogs and wildlife, setting off their own revolution."
Elaine Anne Westheimer
Exciting sprays of grasses arch up from the ground and burst over warm yellow globules of Bird-foot trefoil. Scattered punctuations of bright white Stellaria and poofs of clover form the lovely understory for a restrained yet joyful summer extravaganza.
Oohs and ahhs are in order.
