It's a cold, and some would say dreary, day along the trail, but look what the filtered sunlight does to these moss covered limbs. Though without flowers, this vibrant green carpet is the first pop of spring color and glows almost neon in the sodden brown landscape. In the floral world moss represents charity and maternal love - perfect as a harbinger of the explosion of life that's coming.
“Moss is the emblem of maternal love, because, like that love it glads the heart when the winter of adversary overtakes us, and when summer friends have deserted us.”
Henrietta Dumont
