It Started Here

Snow Covered ‘Luminous Limbs’

On this 4th Anniversary of Along the Luce Line I returned to the site of my very first image.

Navigating by the coordinates in my phone I slogged through 6 inches of fresh heavy snow and came to the exact location of the ‘Luminous Limbs’ shot (March 29, 2020). Things are more wintery today than they were then, and 4 years makes a pretty big difference in the woods, but if I use my imagination I can see a few echos of how things used to be.

Old branches have broken and fallen, dead stumps are decomposing under the snow, lanky new saplings have emerged... life goes on. Four years ago these limbs were covered with a vibrant green moss and the ground was a compost of sodden leaves and emerging lichens.

Thank you for walking with me these past four years.  I hope you will continue to enjoy this trail with me - and any place in the natural world you find yourself!

Note: On this anniversary of this blog I have added a personal dedication. Click on the “ABOUT” tab to check it out. Blessings!
