Face of Fall

A living tapestry of transition.

Cool temperatures have transformed my favorite wetland along the trail into a rich brocade of autumn splendor that takes my breath away! From the mottled grey blue of sky to the orange splashes of oaks and maples, tawny fringe of marsh grasses and marbled teal surface of the pond, my wetland is redolent with the glory of the changing season.

I used to peer at it through a happy cluster of white barked poplars, but the beavers have felled every single tree and fashioned a winter lodge right smack in the middle. How can you blame them? Who wouldn’t want to live in the midst of such beauty?

"No spring nor summer beauty has such grace as I have seen in one autumnal face."

John Donne

With exquisite needlework, Mother Nature has stitched a luxurious ecological welcome to a new season.
